Job Description

An opportunity has arisen for a Payroll Administrator within a legal firm based in Chester.

Key Responsibilities will include:

  1. Processing both manual and automated batch payments on behalf of clients in the most efficient, effective and accurate way.

  2. Developing and maintaining relationships with agencies and where required, clients, via telephone and email.

  3. Developing and maintaining an effective knowledge of current payment methods applicable to each client and/or agency and striving to improve efficiencies.

  4. Taking action to ensure that the outstanding debts from agencies are at the lowest possible level.

  5. Working alongside the Operations Manager to deal with queries from agencies and, as required, clients, relating to non-payments and incorrect payments.

  6. Inputting invoice and payment details onto a bespoke database system.

  7. Managing and processing payment information from multiple sources using Excel spreadsheets.

  8. Maintaining accurate records of agency and invoicing details, including payment references and direct debit information.

  9. Producing Pay Advices for clients, primarily using Crystal Reporting.

  10. Assisting the Business Development Team in introducing the product to new and existing agencies.

  11. Identifying possible new business and recommending appropriate action to the Operations Manager.

  12. Ensuring that all procedures which are necessary for ensuring timely and accurate payment are regularly reviewed and updated as appropriate.

  13. Assisting with the set up of new agencies on in-house systems.

  14. Keeping up-to-date daily records, including filing, in order to provide colleagues, agencies and clients with accurate information.

  15. Conveying at all times a professional, positive and customer-driven image of the company.

To succeed in this position you will ideally have invoicing and payroll experience, basic tax knowledge, have previously raised invoices and made payments, have customer service experience and have previously worked in a legal or accountancy environment.

Hours of work are 8:30am to 5:30pm Monday to Friday and annual salary is up to £16,000.
